On the morning of December 3, the Institute of Economics, School of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University, celebrated its 30th anniversary with a forum on the Construction of an Independent Knowledge System of Economics. The event took place in the reception hall of the main building. Peng Gang, Vice President of Tsinghua University, attended the event and delivered a speech. Ouyang Qin, Communist Party Committee Secretary of the School of Social Sciences, presided over the celebration event.
Peng Gang congratulated the faculty, students and alumni of the Institute of Economics, and expressed his gratitude to friends from all walks of life who have long cared for and supported the Institute of Economics and the development of liberal arts in Tsinghua University.
Huang Taiyan, former president of Minzu University of China, said that the Institute of Economics has long adhered to the strategy of serving the country, carried out indomitable scientific research, continuously paid attention to academic frontier issues, and sought new breakthroughs in the construction of the whole discipline through cross-research.
Peng Kaiping, dean of the Institute of Economics of the School of Social Sciences of Tsinghua University, expressed that the 30th anniversary of its establishment is an important milestone in the historical process of the Institute of Economics. Over the past 30 years, the Institute of Economics has made remarkable achievements and made outstanding contributions in the fields of Political Economy and New Economic Theory. The School of Social Sciences will fully support the Institute of Economics to reach new heights in academic innovation, personnel training and social services.
Liu Meixuan, former director of the Institute of Economics, reviewed its development and the eventful years spent with students and staff. She commented that the great progress made by the Institute of Economics benefited from the teachers' insistence on keeping pace with the times, people-oriented philosophy and enthusiastic devotion to education.
Tang Ke, director of the Institute of Economics, introduced the achievements made by the Institute of Economics in teaching, scientific research and social services. He said that the Institute of Economics will make full use of the advantages of disciplines and rely on the think tank platform to actively perform social service functions and exert a key influence on related fields.
Cai Jiming, a teacher representative, reviewed the three stages of the development of the Institute of Economics. Liu, a student representative, fully enjoyed the mental journey of studying in the Institute of Economics. Ma Zhiwei, an alumnus representative, recalled the teachers' education and influence on him during his studies.
Student representatives present flowers to teachers who have been teaching for 30 years. Zhan Bingyuan, Hu Tianci, Liu Meixun, Wu Yaru, Cai Jiming, David Daokui Li and Long Denggao received flowers from students respectively.
