On January 21, a donation ceremony for the Venustech Psychological and Cognitive Development Fund was held at Tsinghua University's Gong Zi Ting. Venustech CEO Yan Wangjia and President Yan Li, and Qiu Yong, Secretary of the CPC Tsinghua University Committee and President of Tsinghua University Education Foundation, attended the ceremony. Tsinghua Vice President Peng Gang presided over the ceremony.
The Fund will be used to support theoretical innovation and practice in the discipline of Psychology and Cognition as well as the construction of related disciplines and talent training at Tsinghua University, boost national development and social progress, and help improve people's physical and mental health and wellbeing.
Yan Wangjia said that this personal donation aims to promote the combination between the discipline of Psychology and the traditional Chinese culture, integrate Chinese wisdom into the development of the discipline in an innovative, scientific and practice-based manner, and align the establishment and development of psychology with the mental models of the Chinese. She hoped that Tsinghua University would make breakthroughs in psychological studies and develop into a first-class training base for innovative talents in psychology and a high-level academic research base.
On behalf of Tsinghua University, Qiu Yong expressed his gratitude to the donation by the two founders of Venustech. He said that the Report to the 20th CPC National Congress has proposed the major task of advancing the Healthy China Initiative and emphasized the need to "place importance on mental and psychological health". Psychology is an interdisciplinary subject with broad prospects for development. He believed that this donation would help push the development of the discipline at Tsinghua to a new level. The university would also manage and use the fund well, strive to build China's independent knowledge system and contribute to the development of mental health and mental hygiene in China.
Yan Wangjia and Yan Li together with Tsinghua University Education Foundation Secretary-General Yuan Wei signed a donation agreement. Qiu Yong presented a donor plaque to Yan Wangjia and Yan Li.
Leaders of Venustech and the School of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University participated in the event.
